Our editor in chief is also a fully qualified counsellor/psychotherapist who believes in encouraging people to explore creative expression during their journey.

We encourage people of any writing or artistic ability to submit if they are interested, we can help with editing without changing the voice or takeaway of the story.

The people behind the page

As a teenager, I struggled a lot with low mood, confidence and self-esteem. I never made the connection to depression and anxiety, however looking back now I can see how debilitating, almost crippling, that was.

It wasn’t until I was working in the mental health field, that it all caught up with me. The breakdown began slowly: a hint of dread here, a few tears there… but it wasn’t long before I was left feeling worthless and terrified to leave the house.

I had to start over, back to square one. I lost my job, place in education and some relationships. All that structure and support, swept away.

It was then I began to write. A simple journal first, releasing my thoughts and feelings onto a page, but I quickly turned to writing short stories. I found the entire process cathartic and truly believe that writing stories, alongside professional support, is what brought me through those dark times.

I returned to university where I studied creative writing, journalism and screenwriting. I wanted to spread the word that ‘stories heal’ and introduce more people to writing.

I began to run a few creative writing groups alongside mental health   charities such as MIND, before returning to education one last time.

Now I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist who believes in encouraging people to explore creative expression during their journey.

We will add more to our story as we grow and develop new, exciting projects for communities to engage in.
